The Industrial Design Program at Kadir Has University focuses on the product development process integrated with the concept design development process. Aesthetic competencies and creativity required during the product design process are combined with product development, ergonomics, materials, environment, design management, and economy.

Instead of a static approach, this department carries out a program during which students are dynamically engaged, where designer candidates are present and practicing on the field, carry out design projects in cooperation with companies and organizations, and also attend various events such as factory visits, professional seminars, workshops, field research, etc. Since an Industrial Designer needs to understand the progress with a strategic point of view for businesses, we carry out Industrial Design Projects in cooperation with different companies and organizations. During the Undergraduate Program of Industrial Design, we work with significant professionals with comprehensive knowledge and experience in various fields. Students are able to attend internships or external projects in addition to the respective national and international projects during their education in design.

KHAS Industrial Design Department trains designers who are sensitive to all the changes and developments, capable of understanding the needs of users and manufacturers, able to structure the industrial requirements as a design problem, possess a skill of deep analysis, and develop creative and innovative solution proposals. We aim to train designers, who have critical, creative thinking, question what they experience, are capable of solving complex problems, entrepreneurs, follow technological and social developments, produce practical, participative, creative ideas, think analytically and intuitively, and are able to transfer their experience to the application areas making use of simple methods.

We have reinforced the Industrial Design program with our university’s New Education Model. We’ve integrated the Core Program and Project-Based Education with our education programs.

During the initial semester of the first year, the students at this department take the Code Program courses structured based on the New Education Model. The Core Program prioritizes a new system of action, through which the students are supported by a broad scope of elective courses that bring universal values, where there are no traditional exam methods so that the student can be individuals who question and freely think about learning all types of thinking ways, are actively engaged gaining personal experience and observance. Each of the faculty members acts as a “mentor.

As from the year 2, we focus on a curriculum offering professional experience created and carried out together with the significant industry representatives in the field of industrial design making use of the Project-Based Education developed together with the representatives from different industries, in particular, those working at R&D departments, based on the New Education Model.

With the Project-Based Education Model, we’ve restructured all the theoretical and practical courses so that the students can get the professional competencies they need when working in the business world, focusing on real problems and situations on a university & industry cooperation basis. We transfer all the academic and professional competencies to the students through the projects developed together with the industry’s leading business partners.

KHAS Industrial Design Department improves the education it gives depending on the current needs and requirements in parallel with the changing and transforming developments. We aim that our students can gain professional experience during their education.
